Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge
Opened March 2, 2012
The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge is one of Dallas’ newest landmarks. At 400 feet tall, the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge connects Downtown Dallas to West Dallas. The celebration for the bridge opening was March 2, 2012, and the bridge and fireworks illuminated the night-time sky in Big D. Construction of the bridge began in the spring of 2007. The steel was fabricated in Italy, and they used over 11 million pounds of it was used to complete the project.
Designed by Santiago Calatrava, the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge is one of many works by the world famous architect/engineer. The most exciting feature of the bridge are the 58 cables that are attached to the center of the deck and twist and turn as they go up to the beautiful arch. The bridge is 6 lanes wide and provides a useful connection for people on the go. If you have driven across the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, you have experienced an absolutely stunning work of art and engineering.
