1. Have you always wanted to be a librarian?
No, I wanted to be a nurse or teacher.

I like to help people. When I was little, I was not a good reader so I love to teach children to read really well.
3. What’s your favorite part of the job?

Seeing kids read, and them telling me they love to read. I also love giving prizes to readers and knowing we are number 3 in the district because we read 15,444 books from September 17, 2012 to January 24, 2013.
4. What are the rewards of being a librarian?

Seeing kids gain the love of reading is the best reward. And hearing the kids telling me they love to read.
5. Have you thought about the future of books? Will we have books in 20 years? 100 years?

I think in 5 to 10 years we will still have books, but in 20 or 100 years, no- everything is going to be computer based.

Libraries are changing because the internet is so powerful, but either way librarians are still a very essential part because we help in many different ways.

Pete the Cat by Eric Litwin, the kids love it and I love it too.

No, it doesn’t bother me at all because the students help me clean up.

No it’s so enjoyable; one of the main challenges are financial issues to replace old books that the kids love.

To become a librarian you need a masters degree in library and information science.

Absolutely, I love to talk to the kids. Every day I see 8-9 classes, do lessons with them, and on weekends I do reports of what they have read.
12. About how many students do you see a day?

I see about 200 students a day and there are a total of 600 students in the school.

librarian

Generally librarians are really smart people. They are the ones that keep the library nice, clean, and organized – without them, it would be a complete mess. I say that they are smart because you can go ask them something, and 90% of the time they will have the answer for you and, if they don’t, they can quickly find it. They are very organized people that always know where everything is. It may look like they just sit around checking books in and out, but they are actually working really hard. They have to check all the books, order new ones, and keep everything up to date.
