Stevie Ray Vaughan
October 3, 1954 – August 2, 1990
Stevie Ray Vaughan was born in Dallas, Texas in 1954. After attempting to play various instruments, Vaughan began to play a plastic toy guitar he received as a gift. Vaughan had natural talent, and was encouraged to practice and better himself by his older brother, musician Jimmie Vaughan. After falling into a barrel of hot grease while working in a local restaurant, Vaughan decided to dedicate his life to his guitar.
At age 17, Vaughan dropped out of high school and moved to Austin to pursue his musical career. He joined various bands, and in 1977 he formed Triple Threat Revue, the band that eventually morphed into “Double Trouble”. After releasing many successful albums, Vaughan unfortunately began to form an alcohol and cocaine habit. After rehabilitation, Vaughan chose to change his life, but died in a tragic helicopter accident in 1990. But, this Texas legend still lives though his lyrics and incredible music.
